As promised here's our release
plan:
- Release 1: during next weekend (Feb. 21-23, 2003)
- Development documentation: same timeframe
Release 1 will be a development release. We may not add
new methods during this release and the code will not be optimized in regards
to source code size. We are planning a "compressed" .js file as well as other
optimizations (removing debug functions etc...) for the final release. There
will be a method to check your current version online against the latest
release. Once the development release will be available, we will actively
monitor our forum in regards to building the x-desktop developers
community.

We re-arranged our menu. We put
credits/contact/register into one item "about us" and added the "apps &
demo" as well as the "docs" items to allow further structured content. Please
check out the funny demo with a life website desktop
background !

Due to some reports from our
testing supporters using Safari we had to remove Safari from the list of
supported browsers (sorry - the testing is currently not done by ourselves - we
don't own any mac's, maybe Apple could spare some
- if anybody has some contacts to them over here in
Germany.... :-) ). As soon as time allows we'll dig into the
Konqueror/Safari stuff. So far we believe it has to do with some "height: 100%"
properties in different tags where some browsers still having
problems.

Bear with us in giving us time
to respond to your queries. This is a
leisure-time-non-profit-based-on-opensource-enthusiasm-and-gratefulness
project. Although our motivation is at highly energized caused by this
"x-desktop opening" we still need some sleep sometime ;-). You can do us a
favour in using our forum for public or
generic questions etc.., rather than mailing us direct.
Important note: In order to reduce future invalid
links, please do not link directly to our preview demo, instead link to
http://www.x-desktop.org itself. Thx.

feedback so far. Yes, we will issue an release plan as soon as possible. Yes,
we work on the documentation. Yes, we will soon link to an application, which

Due to enormous effort of great
people we were able to launch this website within one week. We are very pleased
and hopefully you are as well. Special thanks to the whole team, especially
Debbie for the design, David for all desktop and skin creations as well as Lars
for keeping our back free to get this launch done.
